The Everards first team cruised to a 10 wicket victory on saturday at home against Ibstock Town 2nds on a day where other teams at thr top of division 4 were beaten by the weather.
Losing the toss & asked to field first, Uppingham bowled out Ibstock for 146 with Alex Ashwin taking 5-41. His second 5-wicket haul in two weeks.
Martin Bennett & Jamie Dumford opened the batting & shared a partnership of 150 as they reached the required total in 30.3 overs with Bennett 72no & Dumford 65no. Full Report.
The seconds were away at Shepshed Town 3rds & playing on a wicket probably worse than most peoples lawns & which, once again, emphases the need to climb the league asap. Winning the toss & asking the home team to show us how to bat on the track, club stalwart Charles Richardson who was called up at the last minute made the most of the wicket & finished with figures of 7-13 as Shepshed were bowled out for 99.
As expected, Uppingham found the wicket difficult to bat on & lost 7 wickets in the chase but Jack Godfrey played a very sensible innings to score 43no & see the team home. Report to Follow.
The Rutland League 1st team were at home to local rivals Medbourne on Sunday with confidence high after Saturdays victory. Once again losing the toss Uppingham found themselves in the field first for the second day running but with Chris Howe in fine form with the ball, Town were soon on top. Chris finished with figures of 6-42 as Medbourne were bowled out for 110.
Uppingham struggled in reply but the inform Martin Bennett (31) & extras (27) saw the team home with the loss of 7 wickets. Full Report.
